Village

Deertrack Village is a year-round cabin community set on over 100 acres of old-growth forest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, just ten minutes from downtown Marquette and the shores of Lake Superior. The property encompasses Whetstone Creek, a spring-fed pond, and rolling hills of mixed hardwoods with walking access to hikes and the bike path.

The estate was established in the 1930s by Abby Beecher Longyear Roberts — daughter of Marquette mining pioneer John Munro Longyear, suffragist, and Juilliard graduate. She commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design the main house, his only building in the Upper Peninsula, while landscape architect Jens Jensen shaped the surrounding grounds in his signature Prairie Style. John Lautner, then a young Taliesin fellow and Abby's son-in-law, supervised the construction before going on to become one of the twentieth century's most celebrated architects.

Originally conceived as a retreat for visiting theatre artists, the village cabins have provided year-round housing for over seventy years. Today Deertrack Village carries that tradition forward as a close-knit rental community rooted in the same landscape that brought together three giants of American architecture and design.
